FOG Operating Permit Expiration, Miami-Dade
The FOG operating permit lapses at midnight on December 31 every year.
The portal emails a 45-day reminder, then locks renewals at 12:01 a.m. on New Year’s Day; miss that window and a $250 late fee posts instantly. Grease Connections renews clients in bulk the same morning the window opens, so kitchens wake up already cleared for the year ahead.

How Miami-Dade Enforces it
The renewal system cross checks payment status against manifest uploads. A kitchen with fresh pump-out tickets but an expired permit triggers a “No License” field visit within five business days. Inspectors can tag fryers and halt service until fees clear.
Renewal dates are set in the FOG Program Manual, Chapter 2 § 2-6, which are currently unavailable in the portal.
*Grease Connections’ $250 late-fee figure comes from our clients’ December 2024 and January 2025 invoices; the amount is listed as “Administrative Late Fee” in the county billing portal.
